Suicide Prevention
Support Staff
About the training
Through this voice-activated immersive learning experience, you’ll develop communication skills to encourage a peer to reveal their challenges and suicidal thoughts. You’ll then have the opportunity to encourage him to seek help.
In this scenario, you hear that a member of support staff has been exhibiting troubling behavior–self-isolating, giving away possessions–while on restriction. When you go to check on him, he doesn’t want to talk, so you’ll need to develop a communication approach to get him to open up. You have the opportunity to practice a proven communication approach–the Ask, Care, Escort (ACE) model–to effectively identify and support someone exhibiting suicidal behavior.
